July 22, 2019 Newsletter

July 22, 2019 Dear Friends, June was a deadly month for law enforcement officers with 14 officers killed in the line of duty. We shared God’s Word with the family members of these officers, and with officers serving in each of these law enforcement departments.  The Bible says, “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”  As these family members and fellow officers and deputies grieve, nothing comforts more than God’s Word.  His love, and mercy strengthen and encourage the brokenhearted. Your generous gifts provide Shields of Strength Folded Flag Necklaces engraved with, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend” to each family member and Dog Tags engraved with “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” to fellow officers of the fallen.  These keepsake necklaces are physical reminders of God’s love and they represent our deepest gratitude for the Fallen Officers’ sacrifice and our commitment to never forget. Also, this summer, Point 27 has partnered with three groups to share God’s Word and to present these necklaces and dog tags to many who have been affected.  In our continued work with The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) we shared God’s Word with 400 family members of Fallen Soldiers who gathered at an event to honor their Soldier and to continue their healing process.  Each female survivor received an Angel Wing Necklace engraved with, “He shall command His angels to protect you,” and the men received a Folded Flag Necklace engraved with John 15:13. Next, we partnered with Sacred Mountain Retreat Center in South Dakota to provide 90 veterans, who are healing from post-traumatic stress, with God’s Word.  The staff shared with us that “the veterans were truly inspired by Joshua 1:9, ‘I will be strong and courageous, I will not be terrified or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go’ engraved on the Shields of Strength Dog Tags.”  God’s Word is powerful.   Finally, partnering again with Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), 400 surviving children of Fallen Police Officers were given Thin Blue Line Dog Tags engraved with Matthew 5:9.  Pointing these children to their Heavenly Father is the single most valuable thing anyone can do for them. In the absence of their earthly father, they are more vulnerable to bad influences within society.  The Thin Blue Line Dog Tag honors their earthly father and strengthens their relationship with God the Father. In the month of June, we shared God’s Word with 2,797 people.  Your support funds this mission. Thank you for partnering with us as we strengthen and encourage members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, Veterans and their family members with God’s Word. Sincerely, David Dodd Colonel US Army Retired Director, Point 27 David@Point27.org...

June 11, 2019 Newsletter

June 11, 2019 In May, we honored over 7,000 family members of the fallen through four different outreaches.  These outreaches included honoring families at large events with necklaces, mourning with families with recent loses and ministering to many listeners over the radio. National Police Week marks an annual observance that pays tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have died, or who have been disabled in the line of duty.  Survivors of Fallen Officers gather in Washington D.C. for memorial events honoring their officer.  Point 27 partnered with Concern of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and gave Thin Blue Line Angel Wing necklaces engraved with Psalm 91:11 to female survivors and Thin Blue Line Cross necklaces engraved with Proverbs 30:5 for male survivors, 4,500 necklaces were given to these family members of Fallen Law Enforcement Officers. President Trump spoke to these family members on the lawn of the Capitol.  His words were powerful, respectful tributes that honored each officer, and were very much appreciated by these grieving family members.  U. S. Attorney General William Barr spoke to the families during a candlelight vigil on the Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument.  The families and law enforcement officers in attendance were very moved by his heartfelt and timely remarks. On Memorial Day, Point 27 partnered with The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) to honor family members of Fallen Soldiers.  We gave Angel Wing Necklaces engraved with Psalm 91:11 to female survivors and Folded Flag Necklaces engraved with John 15:13 to male survivors.  In total we gave 2,500 Necklaces to Family Members of Fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coastguardsmen. Vice President Pence addressed these family members in Arlington National Cemetery.  He honored their unimaginable sacrifice and he honored their Fallen Soldiers. His Words were comforting during the time he spoke. However, God’s Word on stainless steel necklaces stands eternal and will strengthen forever. For our third outreach, I was interviewed on the nationally syndicated Moody Broadcast radio talk show,   In The Market with Janet Parshall.  We discussed Point 27’s mission and the power of God’s Word to strengthen and encourage Soldiers, Police Officers, and their family members. You can find the show at www.moodyradio.org/in-the-market-with-janet-parshall , simply look under Past Programs and choose May 21st Hour 2: News and Views.  Please take a few moments to listen to this broadcast. Sadly, May was a deadly month for law enforcement officers across the United States with ten officers losing their lives in the line of duty in North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico.  Point 27 gave each family member of these Fallen Officers a Folded Flag Necklace and gave Thin Blue Line Dog Tags to their fellow officers. Please know that your generous support provides hope and encouragement to these military members, police officers and family members of the fallen, who have sacrificed dearly for the freedom we enjoy.  The feedback we are receiving is overwhelmingly positive and powerful.  God’s Word on simple pieces of metal are changing lives. You are making an eternal difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people. Thank you for giving from your hard-earned resources. Sincerely, David Dodd Colonel US Army Retired Director, Point 27 David@Point27.org...

May 19, 2019 Newsletter

May 19, 2019 April was a dynamic month for Point 27, including these POINTS OF OUTREACH:   1,000 Thin Red and Thin Blue Line dog tags to First Responders at FITCON, Salt Lake City.  Point 27 presented Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line dog tags to the Salt Lake City Police and Fire Departments, respectively, during the opening ceremony of the FITCON Sports Festival.  A total of 1,000 First Responders received God’s Word. 2,200 Thin Blue Line tags were distributed among four metropolitan Kansas City Police Departments at the Christian Protectors Conference, in Kansas City, Missouri.  Strategos International, a Point 27 corporate sponsor, invited me to speak at the Christian Protectors Conference that they hosted in Kansas City. I shared my testimony, Point 27’s mission, and then I presented the 2,200 Thin Blue Line dog tags to four Kansas City Metropolitan area police departments. Strategos also gave a generous donation and collected a substantial tithe for Point 27.  These financial gifts helped support the Kansas City outreach. God blessed abundantly. A testimony of a given dog tag helping bring a discouraged military veteran to Christ in Kansas City.  God’s Word engraved on a simple piece of metal is powerful and life changing. Here is an email I received following the event in Kansas City.  This is why I give Shields of Strength dog tags to members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, and their family.   Col Dodd – I wanted to share a quick story with you that your dog tags, which you gave us are already yielding Godly Kingdom fruit! My son, Kyle, who you met you there at the conference had a couple of dog tags and when he sat down at the bar to eat dinner at a restaurant last night he overheard a gentleman in his mid-30’s that was seated close to him talking on the phone  … Kyle knew based on the conversation that the man was either current or former military. In the conversation on the phone the gentleman seemed upset and depressed. When he got off the phone my son went up to him and asked him if he was former military. He then responded with, ‘Why do you ask?’ My son said, ‘Well, I work for a company that works with law enforcement and military and we just had a Christian Protectors Conference. Col. Dodd of Point 27 and General Boykin were there.’ My son told him, ‘If you would allow me, I would like to give you this dog tag.’ He gave it to the man and the person read it and told him to ‘Sit down and tell him more.’   The man had heard of you and knew who Gen. Boykin was. To make a long story short, he was going through some tough times ‘trying to fit into society’ since he left the military.  Before the 20-minute conversation ended, God used Kyle to lead this gentleman to Christ and he got his phone number so that the man can come to our office and meet the team.  Amazing how God used your dog tag to not only lead a protector to Christ but also to provide an opportunity to get to know him better going forward. Praise God!  -Vaughn Baker, Founding Partner and President of Strategos...

April 15, 2019 Newsletter

April 15, 2019 March was a deadly month for law enforcement officers with eight killed in the line of duty.  Following each of these deaths, we shared God’s Word with officers serving in each of these police departments and with family members of the Fallen Officers. Tragedy often opens hearts and minds to receive the love, hope, redemption, and salvation God desires for each of us.  Through loss, pain, and suffering, people seek truth and meaning. God’s Word is truth and contains the meaning of life, both natural life and eternal life. Sharing God’s Word with a child, widow, mother, and fellow officer of a Fallen Officer is the most loving helpful thing I know to do.  God’s Word provides hope and assurance of eternal life. It comforts, strengthens, and encourages like nothing else can. Your generous gifts provide God’s Word on a keepsake necklace to family and friends of these Fallen Officers. These necklaces will be cherished for generations to come and God’s Word will not return void. In March, I visited the Fort Worth Police Department and presented them 1,700 Thin Blue Line Dog Tags engraved with “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.”  I shared my testimony and the Gospel with the Chief of Police and his senior leaders. The chief looked me in the eye, shook hands, and said, “I will ensure a Dog Tag is offered to each officer. I presented 300 Thin Blue Line Tags to the Killeen Texas Police Department at a ceremony with 100 of their officers.  I shared the Gospel with them and shared how I witnessed God’s Word on a simple Dog Tag change lives of Soldiers deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq and it will do the same for these officers. In addition to meeting with the Fort Worth and Killeen Police Departments, I spent a weekend with 300 Gold Star Family Members at a Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) event hosted at Fort Hood, TX.  Point 27 gave Angel Wing Necklaces engraved with Psalm 91:11 to the females and Folded Flag Necklaces engraved with John 15:13 to the males. I attended the training to become a Peer Mentor for senior leaders who experience a death in their organizations.  The training was good, and it reinforced my belief that God’s Word is essential for healing following trauma, loss, and death. Each person left the event with God’s Word. While at Fort Hood, I presented 1,000 custom made 1st Cavalry Division Dog Tags to the 1st Cavalry Division Chaplain.  The tags are going to Soldiers preparing for deployment. I can attest to the power of wearing God’s Word around my neck in combat.  It strengthened and encouraged me and reminded me that I was not alone. God was with me wherever I went and He will be with these Soldiers. In May, we are supporting National Police Week in Washington DC.  I am speaking at a Concern of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) event and we are presenting necklaces to 4,000 family members of Fallen Officers.  The value of this gift is $175,240. We are supporting a TAPS Memorial Day Event and giving necklaces to 1,500 Gold Star Family members with a value of $94,500.  Your generous support will provide God’s Word to these people whose...

March 13, 2019 Newsletter

March 13, 2019 Thank you so much for your support and prayers for law enforcement officers, members of the Armed Forces, and their families.  Through your generous support of Point 27, we reached an important milestone in our mission to share God’s Word with every law enforcement officer in the United States.  In February, we completed distribution of Thin Blue Line Dog Tags, engraved with Matthew 5:9, to every law enforcement officer in the state of Nevada. Nevada marks the first of fifty states where we will be outfitting every law enforcement officer with God’s Word. Following the Mandalay Bay mass shooting, Point 27 began working with the Las Vegas Police Department and the surrounding county departments.  The impact of the mass shooting on these officers was significant. The carnage they witnessed was more severe than that of most modern-day battlefields.  In total, 58 people were killed, 851 injured, 400 by gunshot. One Las Vegas Police Officer was killed and left behind a fiancé and daughter. Las Vegas police officers ran toward the gunfire, assisted the wounded, secured the scene, and processed the dead bodies.  They served and sacrificed in the face of danger, and images of that night remain with them always. Counseling following the event, and training beforehand help these officers process the carnage and loss of life. However, God’s Word and the resulting faith in Christ are the only thing that will bring true healing. Sharing God’s Word with these officers, and all officers, is the best way to strengthen and encourage them to be strong in the face of evil.  One Bible verse on a simple dog tag necklace is often the first verse an officer learns. The simplicity of it is disarming and the symbology of a military style dog tag is appealing to officers who suit up for duty daily.  Regardless of their faith, they recognize truth when they see it and they hunger for more. It is this hunger that leads many to learn more about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Some accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It all begins with one verse engraved on one dog tag made possible by you. Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and your gifts.  You are making an eternal difference. One state completed and forty-nine to go.  With God’s blessing and your help, every officer in this nation will receive His Word.   Sincerely, David Dodd Colonel US Army Retired Director, Point 27...

February 13, 2019 Newsletter

February 13, 2019 In January, nine officers were killed in the line of duty while protecting Americans.  These men and women, along with 1,000,000 fellow officers provide security for 330,000,000 citizens.  They risk their lives daily, so that our families are safe and they need God’s help to perform their duty.  Some officers do not have a relationship with Jesus, faith in God, and they are not equipped to perform their duty.  Point 27’s mission is to Point these men and women to (2) Christ (7) and thereby strengthen and encourage them to fully perform their duty.  We accomplish the mission by sharing God’s Word with these brave men and women. Point 27 provides Thin Blue Line Dog Tags engraved with “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God,” to the deceased officer’s partner and fellow officers and we provide Folded Flag Pendant Necklaces engraved with “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.”  These necklaces serve as physical reminders of God’s love and express sincere appreciation for officers and their family members. Point 27’s goal is to provide a Thin Blue Line Dog Tag to each of the 1,000,000 USA officers.  Your generous support will strengthen and encourage these brave men and women.  Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and your gifts. You are making an eternal difference. Sincerely, David Dodd Colonel US Army Retired Director, Point 27...

November 2, 2018

November 2, 2018 The last two months have been full of mission accomplishments as we strengthen and encourage members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, and their family members, by sharing Dog Tags and Jewelry called Shields of Strength. Unfortunately, within the last two months, 16 Law Enforcement Officers died in the line of duty.  In honor of these officers, Point 27 gave Folded Flag Necklaces engraved with John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend,” to their family members; and we gave Thin Blue Line Dog Tags engraved with Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God” to the officers within their departments. In honor of the 343 Firefighters who perished on 9/11, we gave 1,000 Thin Red Line Dog Tags engraved with “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me,’” to the New York Fire Department. I spent four days with Las Vegas Law Enforcement Officers; to include, meeting with six Police Chiefs, leadership of the Nevada State Police, and a number of officers who heroically responded to the 10/1/17 mass shooting where 58 people were killed and 851 were injured from gunfire and resulting panic.  Point 27 gave 3,600 Thin Blue Line Dog Tags to the officers serving in the Las Vegas Valley. These Officers are so very appreciative for Point 27’s gift and they proudly wear the Dog Tags. Point 27 gave Folded Flag Necklaces and Thin Blue Line Angel Wing Necklaces engraved with “He shall command His angels to protect you wherever you go,” to survivors of Fallen Police Officers attending Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) Retreats.  These surviving family members experience healing and encouragement during the retreats, and they are open to the Gospel, truth, and the love of God.  For many, the retreat is a life-changing event and the necklace serves as a life-long reminder of their loved ones and their faith. Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and your gifts.  You ARE making an eternal difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people. Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line Shields of Strength Point 27 honored Little Elm Police Officers and Firefighters with gifts of Thin Blue Line silver Shields of Strength for police and Thin Red Line Shields of Strength for firefighters. For the surviving family members of fallen Detective Jerry Walker, Point 27 presented Folded Flag Pendant Necklaces inscribed with John 15:18, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” In the Public Safety Center foyer, facing a glass case displaying Walker’s photo, a folded flag and mementos honoring him, Little Elm Police Chief Rodney Harrison and Fire Chief Brian Roach received the gifts on behalf of their departments. God’s Mercy, Comfort and Strength A letter signed by U.S. Army (Ret.) Col. David Dodd, director of Point 27, to Harrison, read: “Thank you for your leadership, courage, and perseverance in the face of great adversity.  We pray for God’s mercy, comfort, and strength for you and the brave men and women you lead. “We know the loss of one of your own, Detective Jerry Walker in the line of duty January 17, has taken its toll upon each member of your department and all the first responders that served alongside him.” Police Chief Harrison expressed appreciation for the recognition and encouragement from Point 27, and the nonprofit’s remembrance of Walker’s sacrifice. The Thin Blue Line dog tag necklaces are inscribed with the scripture Mathew 5:8 “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.” The Thin Red Line Shields of Strength are inscribed with Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Who shall I send? Giving Back — Shields of Strength and Point 27

Law Enforcement Appreciation: Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength Show ‘God’s Word Matters’ BEAUMONT, Texas, Jan. 6, 2017 /Christian Newswire/ — Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength inscribed with scripture, custom-designed in response to requests from police officers, have caught the public eye as meaningful, distinctive gifts for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day by secular and faith groups this January and year-round. This month, the Christian jewelry company Shields of Strength www.shieldsofstrength.com partners with the nonprofit Point 27 point27.org to give two Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength dog tag necklaces to law enforcement officers for each Shield of Strength jewelry item of any kind purchased through January. “Departments that have suffered 2016 line-of-duty deaths will be considered priority,” according to Shields of Strength founder Kenny Vaughan. “After a year of tragic police shootings, pierced with controversy and conflicts over whose lives matter, the scripture on each piece of jewelry shows that ‘God’s Word Matters’ in bringing peace and hope to the law enforcement and to all of us.” In 2015, the company received requests from police officers to design an American Flag Thin Blue Line dog tag with the inscription from Matthew 5:9, ‘Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they will be called children of God,'” Later, the Thin Blue Line Flag Cross design was added to the line, engraved with Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” In 2016, following the police ambush killings in July, Point 27 awarded the Dallas Police and Baton Rouge Police Departments Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength for every sworn officer.  According to Point 27 Director, U.S. Army (Ret.) Col. David Dodd, more than 22,500 of the Thin Blue Line pieces are being worn across the country. Vaughan says, in 1998, he founded Shields of Strength, compelled to share the scriptures on dog tags that helped him overcome his fear and win the national water-ski jump championship in 1996. Vaughan’s company gave Dodd custom military Shields of Strength for the troops in his command before they deployed to Afghanistan following 9/11. Dodd, after his military retirement, founded Point 27 with a mission to share God’s word on Shields of Strength with members of the military, veterans and first responders and others. 2 Brothers + Shields of Strength = Veterans Honored

2 Brothers + Shields of Strength = Veterans Honored

On October 20, 2016 CrazyFitBros partnered with Point 27 and Shields of Strength for one simple mission: to share the Word of God with Veterans and thank them for their service. Nathan and Todd Tetreault are the founders of CrazyFitBros, brothers, Veterans, and servants of Jesus Christ. Nathan and Todd reached out to Shields of Strength through the help of their friend and brother in Christ, James Ellis and Blake Bradley. That eventually put them in touch with Colonel David Dodd, US Army Retired who serves as the Executive Director of Point 27, a Non-Profit organization with a mission to share God’s Word with members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, Military Families, First Responders, Athletes, and people battling chronicle illness.   Point 27 graciously partnered up with the brothers to be apart of the 2nd Annual Los Angeles, California Veterans Administration Stand Down.  An event where Veterans are offered medical, dental, and legal support, hot meals, blankets, and many other services to help better their lives’. More information can be found at https://www.va.gov/homeless/events.asp. Point 27 gave 800 Shields of Strength dog tags, engraved with scripture, for the Veterans.  The dog tags were presented by Todd and Nathan with a firm hand shake and a sincere “Thank you for your service” greeting.  Todd and Nathan both said, “everyone needs to know Jesus and know that He saves.” God was definitely on the move as several Veterans said that the Shields of Strength booth was the most talked about booth at the event. “All glory goes to God, said the brothers.” There were roughly 700 Veterans touched with the Word of God as they each received their dog tag gift.  Hands were laid, voices were lifted up in prayer, and love was shared as Veterans gathered to receive their dog tags and a simple “thank you for their service.” It was a successful day. The brothers were grateful to be ready, available, and equipped to serve the Lord. “It was such a blessing to hear what God has done in the lives’ of so many of these Veterans,” said the brothers.   “The stories they shared about how Psalm 91:1-2 carried them through the Vietnam War were moving stories of inspiration and triumph.” Among hundreds of Veterans was a Purple Heart recipient Navy SEAL from the Persian Gulf War era that shared his experience; to include,  how he lost all his brothers in his team to the war and how God saved him. Unexpectedly, the brothers were asked if they wanted some help.  Little did they know it was going to be a WWII Veteran who volunteered his time to help at the booth. Ninety year old, LeRoy Eckels volunteered his time to serve the Lord and hand out Shields of Strength to Veterans. LeRoy is a Believer and follower of Jesus Christ.  LeRoy saw the blake Proverbs 27:17 Shields of Strength T-shirts and asked to help at the booth. “It was such a blessing to have LeRoy help us,” said the brothers. “To see Veterans of different eras come together and share their stories and more importantly, their love for Jesus Christ is what it’s all about.  It’s amazing what God does when we obediently listen and desire to serve Him.  All glory be to God.” Special thanks goes out to Shields of Strength, David...
