The Thin Blue Line
The Thin Blue Line is a symbol used by law enforcement, originating in the United Kingdom but now prevalent in the United States and Canada to commemorate the fallen officers, to show support for the living law enforcement officers and to symbolize the relationship of law enforcement in the community as the protectors of citizens. This symbol has multiple meanings that all have a united message. The Police Officers stand as the thin blue line that protects its citizens from good and evil and chaos and order. The blue color signifies the traditional blue color that officers usually wear. The black border serves as a contrast to the blue – the chaos.
Service and Sacrifice
To police officers, the Thin Blue Line represents the barrier they create between the citizens they are sworn to protect and the chaos represented by the criminal element in society. The only time this line is disrupted is when an officer is injured or killed in the line of duty. Being a police officer is a tough job in any community and the willingness to lay one’s life on the line for others is honorable and inspirational. Truly, these brave men and women serve and sacrifice greatly for others.
Who Would Take A Bullet For You?
Crime does not discriminate between time of day, days of week, or Holidays. Crime is ever present, lurking in the background, posing threats to all, and particularly to the weakest of society. To counter the threat, Police work around the clock, 365 days a year. The work is physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding. The overwhelming majority of law enforcement officers are professional, honest, highly trained, and do their absolute best day in and day out. They take risks that normal people would not take, and if required, they are prepared to take a bullet for you and for me. Counterintuitively, they run toward danger; to include, gunfire.
Sadly, in 2016, 145 US police officers died in the line of duty. Over the past 7 years, annually, an average of 152 officers lost their lives protecting you and me. They each left behind family members, friends, and co-workers who were forever changed.
What can we do to help?
First, we can pray for God’s mercy, comfort, and strength for these officers and their families.
Second, we can show our support and gratitude by thanking Police Officers for their service.
Support and Encourage
One tangible way to show your support is to give a police officer a Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength Dog Tag engraved with Matthew 5:9, which says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
A Thin Blue Line Dog Tag will serve as a physical reminder of God’s Word and His promise to be with them wherever they go.
During National Police week (5-14 to 5-20), Shields of Strength will send 1 free Thin Blue Line Dog Tag with any item you purchase. Additionally, we will also give a Dog Tag to a police officer.
Carry the Thin Blue Line Dog Tag with you. When you see a Police Officer, thank them for their service and Give them the Thin Blue Line Dog Tag.
Bottom line, with each each purchase, you will receive a Thin Blue Line Dog Tag that you can give to a Police Officer and Shields of Strength will give a Thin Blue Line Dog Tag to a Police Officer.
Your purchase will bless 2 Police Officers
This is My Thin Blue Line
Officer Rose Borisow
We are made up of flesh and bone.
We come in all sizes and shapes and colors and backgrounds.
We come together to work 10 hours at a time to keep each other alive while answering calls for help.
We work together every shift to keep everyone safe no matter what.
We see, smell, hear, and experience things most people will never understand and we STILL go back to work.
Some hate us, spit on us, try to kill us, but we don’t break
We don’t RUN…EVER!
I look to my right and my left….I love each and every one of you and pray for your safety every day!
We laugh together and if one of us falls, we NEVER FORGET their Sacrifice. Our hearts break…
And yet….we go back to work the next day.
We have to…we are on the right side…of that
Thin Blue Line!
